Success has always been a particularly interesting topic for me personally, because if you think about it, everything we seek to do in life, we will want to do with the goal of succeeding at it; whether it be a skill, a relationship, a career or any other personal purpose. The problem is, we often are excited to start things but very few follow through with all the necessary steps to the destination they planned on. Here we aim to layout seven tips that are crucial in being successful, no matter what the task at hand may be.
1. Start With The End In Mind
So, as humans, we are great about knowing where we don’t want to be. “I hate this job.” And “I’m not happy in this relationship.” seem like anthems to our generation of dissatisfaction although we have it better than most. Trying to determine what we are seeking can be a lot harder, we tend to be vague when it comes to defining what we desire. So on this point what needs to happen is a visualization of the outcome, not in general terms, but down to a’T.’ Doing this from the start will set you up to make a strategy on how to get there.
2. Plan
Planning may not be in your nature, and that may be part of the reason that you aren’t where you want to be. Athletes know that to perform, you must do the dirty work. It takes months and sometimes years of sacrifice to see the first signs of progress in many areas, this can be saving, personal health, transitioning to a better job position. Think of all the years you studied to get to where you are today. It was no easy feat. And so, we must be ready to plan steps and checkpoints that will help us gauge our progress in the journey ahead.
3. Eliminate Distractions
One of the most powerful things we can do in our lives is to be intentional about the things we focus on; It has everything to do with eliminating distractions. The time that gets subtly stolen from you is your worst enemy. And the shortage of time is an obstacle you will have to learn to overcome if you want to have a way to success.
4. Be Diligent
Yes, there will be moments when you’ll want to throw in the towel, stay in bed, take the easy way out, but you must stay on track. Diligence is defined as careful, persistent work or effort. It is not linked to motivation, but rather commitment, responsibility and being consistent in pursuing that which you have set yourself to do.
5. Control Your Thinking
You must know by now, that there are good thoughts, and there are evil thoughts. The opinions are of where you want to be and those that inspire and empower you. And there are others that pull you away from what you have set out to do. Sometimes you need to power through a task, and other times you will have to separate slots in your calendar to grind away at bigger more time-consuming chores. Keeping a forward-thinking mindset during all this is vital. Remember anything worth doing is worth doing well.
6. Separate Your Time
Allowing yourself time for all the essential things you need and want to do, is vital when it comes to productivity. You want to be intentional in what you invest your time in, and try what is more useful for you. It sometimes takes a bit of tweaking before you can master a schedule that permits you to have sufficient time for all the tasks needed to be executed.
7. You Gotta Love The Ride
To quote Mr. Big, “you gotta love the ride.” What is the point of doing anything if all that matters is the outcome? You would miss out on all the beautiful little details that are part of the journey. You learn about who you are and stretch yourself to do things outside your comfort zone when you take in each moment for what it’s worth.
